Middletown Mania

YOU'RE NO SAVIOR JUST A FUCK BOY COG

Over the weekend Moth and I went over the bridges to see Your Arms Are My Cocoon at a last-minute show in a backyard in Exeter. They had just finished their tour of Europe and even more recently their Canadian string of shows. I've seen YAAMC twice and it was cool to see them in a more intimate setting. Pocket Full Of Crumbs, Aim For My Organs, Plant A Bug Grow A Flower, and Figure Eight played. Long Name City. Figure Eight opened and they were my favorite band of the night, a very classic shoegaze sound mixing some more "emo" esk drum patterns. Here's a link to a set of theirs back in October. Figure Eight and Pocket Full of Crumbs came through on tour together, they're playing Baltimore tonight and Brooklyn tomorrow. We tried to make our way to AS220 after to catch HONG KONG FUCK YOU,  but it was getting late and Sunday was to be a grand day.

On the fateful day of August 11th, 2024 six bands stepped into Omen Skateshop for one very important cause. Moth's Birthday. Porcelain started the show off right with the best set I have seen them play yet. This was their first set with their new third guitarist, and it was powerful. Definitely a band to catch if you can. Another stand-out set was E from Cape Cod. If you've been around, you've seen E. One word to sum them up would be Blast Beats. Double bass, no guitar. Just tone. E put out a new release in October of last year which seems to be a rework of a lot of old songs, which is not a bad thing whatsoever. These songs hold a lot of great meaning and good stories, beating your parents, little dogs, flip phones, and more. E himself is one of the kindest people I've met through music. I hope to see this band more, reminds me of better times. CAPE COD POWER VIOLENCE. Moth did such a great job putting this show together, love you Moth.

If you're from out-of-state and want to support the fanzine, I put up some of the tape releases and fanzine onto the Big Cartel. So if you're interested go ahead and give that a little look. That will also be the prime place for ordering a monthly Newsletter if you can't make it to a show.

Here's what I am listening to as I write this today. Skrawl is one of my favorite Providence bands that doesn't play anymore. Coming from Dean of V-Sect, Wound Man (sometime), Primitive Propaganda, and Piddlewink. Skrawl is nasty. Blackened electronic hardcore.

On a dreary Sunday afternoon, we sat down with Told Not To Worry before their set at Omen Skate Shop. Moth's Birthday is TMR

Today it rained again, I made cheese this morning  Moth and I sat on the couches watching Romance Killer and I had a Reese's cup with Reese's pieces. I've also drank three different kinds of root beer today.

Yesterday Moth and I went up to Wes' Rip House yesterday, the line was Told Not To Worry, Sapona, Norfair, and Asphyixa. This was Told Not To Worry's first show since they released their split with UltraViolet came over the weekend. Told Not To Worry is on the upswing and they're such a great band to catch live. Jane and Brian are such great front people, watching them makes me feel they are having more fun than anyone in the crowd.  Sapona and Norfair came through town together during their tour, this was the third show of their East Coast trip and they both sounded tight as you'd expect from the first night of the tour. Both of these bands impressed me so much more than I thought a band from the "Mitten" State would. I feel like one day in 15 years, I will be scrolling YouTube and I will find a video of Sapona from a shitty camera, they had the violent screamo sound that I yearn to see more often. The singer and drummer played pass with the microphone the whole set and it was really great to watch. Going from YouTube to an older brother's CD drawer, Norfair had some nasty riffs. One word, FOR THE MOSHERS. Both of the bands played songs from an upcoming split that will be released when they get home from the tour. To say Norfairs' songs were brutal would be an understatement. Great vocals, devastating scream;  Olth standard. Asphyixa closed out the night, that band will always be a treat to see live, I would take too much time on them because if you've gone to any show in the area, chances are you've seen them. Amazing band, they have a song that sounds like Dragonforce.

Check out Sapona and Norfair split when it comes out, I'll try to. post it here when it comes out.

Tomorrow is Moth's birthday and I got them a cat stuffed animal you can put in the microwave to heat up. It's going to rain again, better than the heat.

Listen to Told Not To Worry's split that came out over the week. Link to listen to here.

The newsletter is up for sale on the big cartel now as well. I thought that'd be easier than selling them through DM's. Link To Purchase Newsletter Here. The newsletters will be coming with some goodies like pins and whatnot.
